Sigray, Inc. is a San Francisco Bay Area company founded in 2013 with the mission of accelerating scientific progress through advanced laboratory x-ray systems. These systems deliver synchrotron-grade research capabilities within the lab, representing a significant step-change over conventional x-ray technologies. Their breakthrough performance is enabled by Sigray’s patented innovations in x-ray sources, optics, and system design.

Sigray’s solutions have been rapidly adopted by leading research institutions and industry organizations worldwide. The systems support a diverse range of users, including academic researchers (materials scientists, battery researchers, biologists, geologists) as well as industrial teams across semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, energy storage, and catalysis. The company was co-founded by Dr. Wenbing Yun and Ms. Sylvia Lewis, who continue to lead Sigray today. Dr. Yun previously founded Xradia, Inc. in 2000, which grew to over 100 employees before being acquired by Carl Zeiss in July 2013. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and has received four R&D 100 awards for his contributions to x-ray microscopy.

Sigray has built a strong intellectual property portfolio with over 60 patents worldwide, including innovations in x-ray components, dose efficiency, and novel laminography approaches. The company’s team includes leading experts in x-ray sources, optics, and instrumentation, including former synchrotron beamline scientists, program leaders, and pioneers who have developed some of the highest-efficiency, highest-resolution x-ray optics available.
